Our Capitol Attacked

This is the 10th installment of my political information related to the November 3 election and the first since the election.

Dear Family & Friends,

We are all rightly alarmed at the attack on our Capitol and our nation by the seditionists who stormed the Capitol building and by their allies in government who have incited and praised them – Donald Trump and others in the Executive Branch and Congress.  And we are shocked by the failure of law enforcement to stop and arrest these terrorists, while only months ago, peaceful Black Lives Matter demonstrators in Washington, DC, were greeted with rubber bullets, tear gas and mass arrests.

This is akin to the actions of Hitler and the Brownshirts in 1933, when they lost the election in Germany, turned violent, and were appeased and not prosecuted by the elected government.  Appeasement emboldened Hitler and his thugs, the violence increased, and “the rest is history”.

I believe that we cannot allow this to stand without comment and action by people like you and me.  I urge you to join me and Contact your Senators’ and Congressperson’s offices to say:

  1. “It is critical that you defend our nation against both the insurrectionists who overran our Capitol and the elected officials who are inciting them, including your ‘colleagues’. I’m asking you to have each and every lawbreaker arrested, tried, convicted, and sentenced. I’m asking you to invoke the Fourteenth Amendment, Section III and eject from office any elected official advocating for overturning election results or other forms of sedition. This is an attempted coup. Call it by its name. Don’t look away or pretend otherwise. Act to protect and defend our nation. Now.”
  2. “It is critical that President Trump be impeached for inciting violent revolt.  I’m asking you to impeach and convict him, whether in advance of January 20th or afterward, thereby barring him from ever holding elective office again. Don’t be swayed by calls for the 25th Amendment to be enforced as a substitute; it is unlikely his cabinet will act, and it can only be done prior to January 20.  Uphold your oath to protect and defend our constitution and our nation. Now.”

Donald Trump, his enablers in the Executive Branch and Congress, and the violent thugs among his followers must be stopped now, before it is too late.  After yesterday’s attack on our nation and the Capitol, it is clear they have no limits.  In the near future, we may need to peacefully demonstrate by the millions throughout the country to let our leaders know where the sentiments of the people really are.  I will keep you posted about that.

If you have questions, please contact me.  I regret that this action is needed, but it is.  Sincerely,  Marty
