Come and hear what the priorities, hopes and challenges are for young activists as Eric Vazquez leads a panel of local young Democrats at the Thursday, August 24th Open Meeting of the Oakmont Democratic Club in the beautiful patio of the Central Activity Center (310 White Oak Drive). The social time begins at 6:30 and the meeting begins at 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Vazquez, as President of the Wine Country Young Democrats, heads this progressive organizing effort made up of young people who are actively reaching out to get their generation engaged and voting. The panel will discuss the major issues they see impacting their lives and what steps are needed to create a better future. Let’s all come together and show our support for these young Democrats.
Also, on Saturday August 26th, join us for “Less Whining and More Wine-ing” as Oakmont Democrats collaborate with Sister District Project to help Virginia Democrats win a tight race in their House of Delegates. Along with gold medal wine tasting and other refreshments, Susanna Gibson, Candidate for the Viriginia State Legislature, will join us to share how the November 2023 election is key to determining which party controls Virginia. The Sister District Project analyzes key legislative races throughout the country and this race was targeted because Virginia is a key battleground state. With their state government divided between Democrats and Republicans this fall, Virginia elections will have national implications on issues such as climate change, women’s rights, and voting rights in the presidential election in 2024.
