Indivisible Sonoma County

77 Days

We have 77 days until November 3 to take back our country (as of posting this article to OakmontDemClub.com). The war on peaceful protesters by Trump’s Secret Police in Portland, the attack on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez by Ted Yoho, and the daily gaslighting of Americans by the White House due to their failed response to the COVID, these events over the past few weeks have made it even more clear that we need to flip the White House, the Senate, and hold onto the House.  Profound sadness and disappointment can only describe how I feel at the loss of decency, integrity, and compassion in those that have been elected to serve us.

If we do not change the trajectory of our country, the nation we aspire to be, the ideals we hold, the future we want for our children will be forever changed.

We march, rally, and protest.  We write postcards, phone bank, canvassed (sadly past tense), and we fundraise.  It will take all of us and all these actions to take our country back.

Here comes the BIG ASK

We have selected Indivisible’s PAYBACK PROJECT as our next fundraising commitment. We are calling it, DON’T FLIP OUT, FLIP THE SENATE.  Indivisible Orchard City, Petaluma, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Sonoma County, and South County have all jumped into co-host.  That’s how vital and important this effort is.

The Payback Project is committed to flipping the Senate and has identified 11 Senate races that are critical. This includes Susan Collins in Maine, Cory Gardner in Colorado, Thom Tillis in North Carolina, Martha McSally in Arizona, David Perdue, and Kelly Loeffler in Georgia, Joni Ernst in Iowa, Steve Daines in Montana, John Cornyn in Texas, and of course Mitch and Lindsay.  These GOP senators have consistently aligned themselves with Trump and NOT the American people.

Don’t Flip Out, Flip the Senate will be held on Saturday, August 15th at 5 pm by Zoom.  We are excited to have Ezra Levin, co-founder of Indivisible, kick off our event describing the Payback Project.  Following Ezra, we are honored to have Representative Anna Eshoo speak on how House legislation, aimed at helping all Americans, has been blocked repeatedly by Mitch McConnell and the GOP Senate. Finally, we are so fortunate to also have Maria Urbina, the National Political Director of Indivisible, continue the discussion on the Payback Project and offer insight as to what is happening on the ground.  It promises to be an informative and lively discussion.

The minimum suggested donation for our event is 25 dollars.  If you can afford to give more, please do. If you cannot attend but would like to donate (thank you!) it would be greatly appreciated.  Our democracy has been pushed to the edge and it is up to all of us to save her. The time is now.  To sign up or donate, click on this link.  Thanks to everyone, this is how we Make Good Trouble.
