Celebrating Victories for Democracy [Video]

Announcement for this event:

Join us at the BERGER CENTER on Thursday, January 26th 7PM, for our General Meeting of the Oakmont Democratic Club it will be part-party, part-analysis and part-looking ahead. We will celebrate the hard work of many Oakmonters who helped Democrats win major victories in the fall election.  As of this writing, the General Meeting at the BERGER CENTER will be hybrid with COVID-safe protocols for those attending in person and a zoom link for those who wish to attend online.

In California, we won many races.  About 60% of voters favored Democratic candidates in federal and state races.  Not only did we keep California “blue” but our work helped reduce the “red wave” to a “red trickle”.  Oakmonters helped by writing thousands of postcards, canvassing both locally and in Nevada as well as helping our “Sister District” allies win key legislative races across the country.  Larry Martin of Indivisible will join us with a brief analysis of what worked and what were some of the challenges.   Rocio Rodriquez, Vice Chair of the Sonoma County Democratic Party, will also share some of the hopes for 2023 from the perspective of a young activist. She is an Ecuadorian-American immigrant, growing up between Ecuador and the Mexico-Texas border. She is a public health practitioner who is rooted in social justice, enjoys hiking, travelling, plants and lives in Santa Rosa with her husband and cat, Gracie.

The social with refreshments begins at 6:30PM.  Please bring your favorite finger food and beverage.  The Program begins at 7PM.  All Oakmonters are welcome to join us.
